Polis/DitBECs

Foundation for Research and Innovation was the proponent and key-manager partner of POLIS/DitBECs POLIS was a structured network supported by the Tuscany Region for the period included between 2011 and 2014. The Innovation Pole of the Technologies for a Sustainable City and Cultural Heritage was born as grouping of 200 Tuscan SMEs, research centres, start-ups and associations; it reached 654 partners (586 SMEs, 24 large companies, 27 research organisations/associations, 24 institutions/public bodies). F.R.I. also performed the function of Secretariat of DitBECs, the District of Cultural Heritage and Sustainable City’s Technologies.

CTN- National Technology Cluster on Smart Communities

F.R.I. represents the Tuscany Region and DitBECs in CTN- National Technology Cluster on Smart Communities, a consortium whose main role consists in the coordination and promotion of technological transfer activities referred to Smart Communities in order to strengthen synergies in the field of research among Universities, Enterprises and Institutions.

DITECFER - The Tuscan District for Rail Technologies, High Speed, Safety&Security

F.R.I. actively participates in DITECFER, the Tuscan District for Rail Technologies, which plays a fundamental role by promoting R&D activities, scientific training and dissemination in the rail sectors, urban mobility, advanced logistics and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS); besides, the consortium fosters innovation and technology transfer in order to improve and support the competitiveness of enterprises.

The Foundation collaborates with

University of Florence

In July 2013 F.R.I. signed a framework partnership agreement with the University of Florence (for a period of 10 years) to activate curricular/extracurricular training courses as well as career guidance and counseling programmes. University laboratories are constantly involved in projects with enterprises, Poles and Districts for Innovation; besides, F.R.I. organizes matchmaking events, workshops, seminars and conferences to promote university research activities among institutions and enterprises.

CSAVRI – Service Centre for the Enhancement of Research and Management of the Incubator

Founded in late 2009, CSAVRI is the service centre for the enhancement of research and management of the university incubator. It monitors, integrates and manages the University's activities related to patents, spin-offs and third-party research. Collaboration with F.R.I. involves several fields such as: Innovation Poles, Sportello Apre *Toscana, Matchmaking Sessions for companies and research organisations, “Impresa Campus Project”, competence centres, career guidance and job orientation, metropolitan system of incubators, territorial networks.

Confucius Institute

The Confucius Institute is the official body for the teaching of Chinese in the world, recognised and funded by the Ministry of Education of China. The Confucius Institute of Florence was born in March 2014 as a result of the collaboration between the University of Florence and Tongji University (Shanghai). F.R.I. collaborates with Tongji University in two different projects: FLORENCE OVERSEAS CAMPUS for the diffusion of Chinese language and culture, and CONFUCIUS INSTITUTE for the promotion and the organisation of cultural events.

By means of a public notice, Sviluppo Toscana, an in-house company of the Tuscany Region, defined a short list of external subjects interested in establishing public-private partnerships coordinated by Tuscany Region and finalised at the participation in calls that are part of the programmes directly managed by the European Commission. F.R.I. submitted its expression of interest to participate in European projects in partnership with the Tuscany Region within the following sectors: - “Cultural Heritage” - “Transportation and Sustainable integrated urban and regional development”
