Reskilling Craft

Reskilling Crafts aspires to empower Europe’s craft sector for a digital and green future.

By connecting untapped talent with inclusive training opportunities, the project creates reskilling labs that blend tradition with innovation. Through a strong European alliance, it supports sustainable job growth and lifelong learning in crafts.

Reskilling Crafts addresses a pressing challenge: while Europe’s craft sector is expected to lose 133,000 jobs by 2035, over 387,000 new positions will open due to retirements. At the same time, nearly half of Europe’s adult population—especially those with low skills—remains an untapped talent pool. To bridge this gap, Reskilling Crafts promotes innovative, inclusive reskilling labs that prepare both employed and unemployed adults for the craft jobs of the future—blending tradition with digital and green skills.

Main goals

  • Establish the European Craft Sector Reskilling Alliance(ECSRA) to foster collaboration between public and private stakeholders and drive coordinated upskilling and reskilling efforts across Europe.
  • Develop a comprehensive Skills Panorama and Blueprint for the craft sector, mapping existing skills, identifying future needs and guiding the creation of reskilling labs tailored to evolving industry demands.
  • Design and implement a robust communication strategy focused on inclusivity, awareness-raising and stakeholder engagement, aiming to influence policy and promote cultural preservation.
  • Build the CRAFTS Reskilling Labs Platform, a digital hub hosting training content, career guidance tools, inclusion spaces, micro-credentialing systems, and real-time skills intelligence for aligning learning with market needs.
  • Pilot the Reskilling Labs methodology through real-life applications, including capacity-building for educators and in-company training sessions, to test, refine and validate the new training approaches for the craft sector.
  • Ensure continuous monitoring and evaluation of tools, strategies, and learning platforms to assess effectiveness, adapt to feedback, and maintain alignment with sector developments throughout the project’s lifecycle [and potentially after the project finishes].

Reskilling Crafts Alliance

Objectives of the Alliance

  • Foster strategic engagement and active participation through a targeted outreach strategy that highlights the mutual benefits of involvement in the reskilling ecosystem.
  • Ensure effective, ongoing communication between partners and stakeholders via dedicated channels that promote transparency, knowledge-sharing, and joint problem-solving.
  • Define a clear collaboration framework, including roles, responsibilities, and mechanisms for stakeholder involvement in the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of reskilling activities.
  • Support policy dialogue and advocacy, enabling Alliance members to influence vocational training strategies and contribute to shaping the future of the craft sector in line with digital and green transitions.
  • Leverage expert insights through the formation of an Expert Board Committee (EBC) that will offer strategic guidance and help evaluate the project’s impact and effectiveness.
