Digitization of Museums and Galleries – CD-ETA
The Second Thematic Seminar about Digitization of Museums and Galleries of Interreg Europe project CD-ETA – Collaborative Digitizaion of Natural and Cultural Heritage, took place in Florence last May, from 8th to 10th. The main purpose of the project is to improve digitization policies for natural and cultural heritage and create solid basis to implement best practices in the involved regions, depending on specific needs. Standards deepened and developed will directly contribute to put in action European digital strategy.
The project involves eight different delegations coming from seven countries: Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Spain, Italy, Slovenia, Estonia, among which belongs Foundation for Research and Innovation. They had a full 3 days of seminar, meetings, steering committee, study visits in different location of the historical centre of Florence, which is known to be part of Unesco’s world heritage sites.
The main event was held on May 9that Fenzi Palace in San Gallo street, n°10. The welcome speech was made by Pro-Vice Chancellor and President of the Foundation for Research and Innovation Andrea Arnone and by Director of Cultural Department Roberto Ferrari, followed by the 8 delegations and expert stakeholders presenting their experiences and best practices. During the day also European and Italian hosts reported about their expertise on how to digitize Museums and Galleries, highlighting different needs and approaches to face new challenges: Elisabetta Lazzaro, HKU University of the Arts Utrecht; Roberto Scopigno, Italian National Research Council- Visual Computing Lab; Marco Cappellini, Centrica srl; Andrea and Jacopo Bianchi, Oikos Engineering srl; Marco Berni and Jacopo Tonini, Galileo Museum.
Next thematic seminar will be in October, from 17th to 19th, in Slovenia: topic to be deepen will be the Cultural Intangible Heritage
