Vector week in Florence and the 3rd International Conference on Destination Management

The 17th-20th of April 2018 has been an intense week for Erasmus+ Vector project.

The 6th Partnership Meeting of the project took place in Florence, where the Italian partners welcomed the Spanish and Portugues ones, plus the students of the first pilot course for Destination Managers. The project partners met during the week to finalize the last modules of the training course, while the students completed the course they started in 2017 in Valladolid (here the news related to the start of the pilot).

As conclusion of the meeting, an International Conference on Destination Management was hosted at Palazzo Strozzi Sacrati, in Piazza Duomo in Florence, the 20th of April. Attendance rate was quite high, as more than 110 people registered on site that morning. Two important goals achieved during the event were the first 18 students finishing Vector’s pilot training program, who were awarded with a certificate, and the statement of intent signed by local private and public entities related to tourism:

  • Florence Convention Bureau
  • Florencetown srl
  • Fondazione Sistema Toscana
  • Tuscany Region
  • Toscana Promozione Turistica

The aim of the Conference was to celebrate the Destination Managers’ curriculum in all its facets: experts, policy makers, real destination managers, analysts, they all took the floor to contribute to the topic. A full morning of more and more interesting topics, with speakers coming from local and international scenario facing different aspects and issues, making the event an arena to deepen a discussion on tourism in a 360 degrees view. In the afternoon project partners with the contribution of some of the new Destination Managers discussed on themes related to Tourism Destinations: Planning and Fund-raising, Marketing and Web 4.0, Management.
